These scouts worked very hard for over a year to achieve this great honor. They worked under the guidance of Mr. Styne who devoted many hours and Sunday afternoons to them. So, not only do we say "Congratulations" to these scouts, but also "Congratulations and Thank You" to Mr. Styne.

Car Wash

The Annual Troop 580 Car Wash was held on Sunday, July 23, in the parking lot of the Bellmore Knights of Columbus on Bellmore Ave. Thanks to the great washing efforts of our scouts as well as the local merchant advertisements, we were able to raise approximately $900 for our Troop. Thank you to all who participated including the 13 scouts who did such a fine job washing all those cars!

Summer Camp

by: ASPL Philip
Troop 580 went on its annual summer camp trip from July 30 - August 5. We attended Forestburg Scout Reservation in the Adirondack Mountains. We enjoyed the great rainy and cold weather. After viewing the great water falls of the Camp, some of the scouts went on a late night hike. We participated in an open rifle shoot, camp-wide scavenger hunt, campfires and I even enjoyed some great mountain biking. The scouts that attended were Joseph, Nicholas, Robert C., Brian,Robert S. and myself. Once again, the trip concluded without a hitch thanks to the leadership of Mr. Bello, Mr. Caraccio and Mr. Gilmartin.

Blood Drive

The Bellmore Knights of Columbus requested the help of our scouts with their Blood Drive. On Thursday, September 21 Mr. Bello and Nick handed out Blood Drive flyers at the Bellmore train station to commuters. On Friday, September 22 Joseph, Nicholas, Robert C., Michael, Kevin, Dermot, Gabriel, David, and Robert S. assisted the Knights at their hall during the Blood Drive.

Bellmore Street Fair

On September 23-24 Bellmore had its annual Street Fair. Our scouts maintained a table in the Kids Expo area. There they offered a chance to buy bird houses, candy, and pop corn. We even had a football toss for a chance to win a free bar of candy. The scouts who participated were Christopher, Michael, Kevin, Robert C., Robert S., Gabriel, Nicholas, Brian, Matthew, Robert M.. Thanks also to Mr. Bello, Mr. Caraccio and Mr. Schuler for all of your help.

Uniform Exchange

Due to the high cost of uniforms, last year we started a uniform exchange. Gently used uniforms are donated and if anyone needs them, they can use them for as long as necessary. If anyone is in need of uniforms, or has items to donate to the exchange, please call Mrs. Gillen at 826-1182.
